AML

Acute Myeloid Leukemia, boy is that a mouthful. AML is a cancer that begins deep in the bone marrow where blood cells are produced. The blood cells in Mason’s body were supposed to turn into white blood cells that help fight off infection, but instead, they turned cancerous. These rapidly dividing cells are now of no use to the immune system that they are supposed to be a part of. Right now in your own body, cells are dividing and some are even cancerous, but your body kills them off. Mason’s body was incapable of doing so, leading to his leukemia.

The prognosis, especially in kids Mason’s age, is good. It’s going to be a long process, and he’s going to have to get worse before he gets better, but that’s okay. Getting better is the most important part.

We won't have a full picture of his disease until tomorrow when the results from today's spinal tap and bone marrow test come back. They had to send their samples out all the way to Seattle. I mean I don't think that's economical but hey if they're smart out there in Seattle then why not? We want the most accurate diagnostics and analysis so if that's what they need to do then I guess that's okay. 

For now we just wait and pray for the best. God gives his toughest battles to his toughest soldiers, and I know that his strongest orange warrior is sitting with me right now.
